Western Aero currently has an opening for a Senior Accountant working on site at our locations in Denver, CO. The ideal candidate must have 5 years accounting experience working with inter-departmental or inter-company accounting structures.  CPA/MBA preferred.  The candidate should have a thorough understanding of job costing, integrated accounting systems, and inventory accounting. Experience with Quantum, Component Control’s aviation software platform, is a plus. This position reports to the Operations Manager.


This position is responsible for conducting and managing accounting activities for all the Western Aero companies; to include cash reconciliations, journal entries, fixed asset activities, debt activities, and recording of revenue and expenses. Additional responsibilities to include resolving complex accounting issues and assisting in resolving financial issues; monitoring and analyzing accounting data to ensure accuracy; reviewing monthly internal financial statements; preparing monthly consolidated financial statements; producing quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements; assisting in preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings; and coordinating and assisting with audits.

Senior Accountant Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems for all business units, focusing on compliance and appropriate accounting standards to ensure the integrity of the financial statements
  • Manage the monthly and annual close process and the month and annual end reporting package
  • Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements results, including variance analyses
  • Work with tax accounting firm to prepare tax filings for all companies
  • Monitor bank assets, directing and planning cash flow as needed
  • Mentor the clerical and data entry staff to process account system inputs, properly for current operational systems and for anticipated changes to operations
  • Calculate work product costing, calculate cost multipliers for labor and non-labor, and calculate product profits
  • Monitor anomalies in data and communicate findings to management in a timely manner
  • Continually analyze procedures and make recommendations to management


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business-related field
  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • Knowledge of federal and Colorado state financial regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivots, formulas)
  • Ability to engage and influence multilevel staff, including executive management


  • Certified Public Accountant License (CPA)
  • Familiarity with Component Control’s Quantum application
  • Familiar with Human Resource duties
