    Hi Eric,

We find that the Hazmat element in Quantum has several short comings, many of which you mention and as a result use a separate programme which we custom wrote outside of Quantum to do our DG declarations.

In addition to the areas you pointed out, one of our main issues we have with the Hazmat is that Quantum assumes that each PN will have a totally unique details and makes you enter the PSN, UN code, Packing Instr etc for each and every PN when in fact parts can be grouped by UN codes. What should happen is when selecting the Hazmat box you then choose from a drop down menu which Hazard you will select which already has the predefined info (PSN, UN code etc). Also if IATA changes the UN codes or packing instr number which they have done in the past it means having to change it on Quantum for each PN affected by it, whereas grouping it in columns will mean only having to update it once.

  • Thanks for both your responses, we have done an upgrade and it has resolved this issue

  • Hi Paul,

Thank you for the constructive feedback and various solutions offered regarding this matter. All your suggestions are workable solutions to the issue but at the same time I think in each suggestions demands each invidivual company using Quantum to make a go around fix to an existing problem and in many respects because Hazmat is a subject that affects all companies, in my opinion it would be better and far easier from a user point of view to address the issue at Quantum level and have CC enhance the the system so that Hazmat codes are referenced as a table rather than entering a unique hazmat code each time a new part is added.

Perhaps this is an enhancement which Quegroup can put some weight behind and propose to CC as its an improvement that would benefit all users?

  • Hi Paul

Thank you for the advice. I read your conference notes on Going Remote and the impressive setup you did and appreciate the feedback on the best remote site solution.

On top of remote scanning I want to introduce the ability to capture pictures with a camera and then put them against the receiving line item but I find that a camera connected by cable to a computer is restrictive in taking pictures from all angles especially on large bulky items because you simply cant it to reach everywhere you want unless you drag the computer with it!

Do you happen to know if the technology is out there currently to use cameras that have wifi connectivity so that you can then take pictures with the full flexibility of a non-cable connected camera and once a picture is taken it wirelessy transmits the picture and automatically attaches it to the receiving line item on quantum? Or is that sort of technology not out there just now!?!

    Best regards

    Adam
