Its under code tables and charges in Security Management. Here you can limit users to add, edit or delete. We restrict all users for this code table.

We recently upgraded from Oracle 11g to 19c. We are running Quantum 12.7.7. We are still able to run the older 11g clients with no issue. We don’t use the instant clients but I am sure they would work as well with 19c. We also run some older crystal reports with no issues. Email me if you want more info Warren: jlupo@ansett.com.

John,
Check your upload speed to the Internet. If it is slow I would upgrade your Internet connection. If it is already fast (above 50Mbps) the issue is probably on CCs side and I would open a trouble ticket with them. You can also compress the files before uploading and that should speed it up. Lastly, you can move your Image server(s) to your local network and it will always be fast but I know this setup doesn’t work for everyone.

Yes, it looks like CC doesn’t have a valid SSL cert on their server. It’s possible you are not connecting due to this invalid cert. Port 443 is all your should need open on your firewall.
-
We upgraded to 12.7.7 a few months ago and it was one of the smoothest upgrades we have done in over 15 years using Quantum. We have no issues to date since upgrading. What issues are you having with 12.7.10?
-
Jake we are interested but what is your relation to Component Control? Why are they not reaching out to their customers directly for this Alpha testing? Thanks.
-
This sounds more like a networking issue then an Oracle issue. When the database is unavailable can you ping or RDP into the server? If not then it is a network issue. I would look at replacing the network card on the server, cabling and or the network switch and see if the issue goes away. I would also check the network for duplicate IP addresses or host names as this can cause networking issues as well.

Warren to go from version 10 to 12.6.4 there will be so many changes it is not worth trying to test everything. When we go up one major version it takes us months to test everything with a team of people. I would suggest a test server on the latest build with your data if you don’t have one already and test all your major processes and see if there are any issues. I would not worry about every change that has been done to Quantum or you will never get through all of it. There are always issues with every build so it is not going to be perfect.
-
We have never found way to do this. We ended up blocking AP/AR/Checks for all users except our accounting users. This was good enough, but it would be nice to have a security setting per company or per tabs in the edit company record. If anyone has a better solution we would love to hear it too.
-
Yes, this is a Windows Scaling issue. Changing the scaling to 100% fixes the issue but most of my users need the scaling. This issue needs to be fixed by CC.
-
It sounds like you need a separate schema for your sister company. We have the same setup and users can log into one schema or the other. The data is completely separate in this scenario. You will have to pay extra for the second accounting company and CC will need to setup the second schema for you. If you need more info let me know. Thanks.

Petro thank you for the heads up on this. I assume this update is on the client end not the server? We have not ran into this issue yet. Thanks.

We have been running Quantum using Citrix/RDP for over 15 years for our remote offices and our remote users with no issues. In fact you may find with the proper setup Quantum actually runs faster over RDP then it does locally. You can also run everything off prem in the Cloud for more flexibility. CC has their own cloud service or you can do it yourself with Amazon or Microsoft.
-
Thanks Craig. Is there anyone that has issues with 12.4.4?? Thanks.
-
Agreed Warren! Low risk is not good enough. CC’s thought process is your Quantum server and Image server(s) are behind a firewall so they are at low risk to attack but that assumes no one gets past your firewall or a computer inside the network is not compromised that could then take over your Quantum and or Image servers. Then there is the issue of the Quantum Portal that is Internet facing. We have shut ours down until there is a patch. Not worth the risk.
-
Pietro,
We have a total of 7 servers to run Quantum, Quantum Imaging and the Portal. If I add our test servers we have 10 servers all together. I don’t need anymore servers to keep track of.
Jae -
Thank you for the info Nate. I was told the same by CC but the issue is if a PC on the network is compromised it can then compromise the Quantum server. Additionally, we were told not to run antivirus on the Quantum server so this server is vulnerable to attack from the inside. This issue needs to be addressed right away.
-
Thanks Nate! Please let us know.
-
How about Apache running on the Image Servers and Quantum Portal?
-
CC needs to get on this right away and let their customers know what is going on. I am going to assume only Internet facing devices like the Portal are most vulnerable but you can never be to cautious now days.
-
Welcome to my world!! As far as I know there is no fix for this. It’s a bug but I have not tried getting a bug tracker for it. I hope someone else has.

We have both the 64x and 32x Oracle ODBC connector installed. You can use them both. If you install it again just change the directory to Client_2 (I am up to 7 on my PC with no problems). Run the Oracle installer and choose custom with the client_2 directory install and tick the box for Oracle ODBC Driver.
-
Sorry that didn’t work. We are running all 64x Office on our workstations and terminal server and it works fine. I have only had a few rare cases where I have to reregister or reboot to make it work again. If it is a one off I wouldn’t worry about it.
-
I get that error message on every workstation/server I have ever installed Oracle on. I don’t know what it is looking for (a super computer??). Just continue past the message and it work just fine.
-
Installing the 32bit version of Office solves the problem too but if you want to run all 64bit you will need to unregister and register the newest RwEasyMAPI64 & RwEasyMAPI32 files. I came across this same error with a user yesterday who already had these files registered and I just had him reboot his PC and the error went away. This has happened from time to time and a reboot is the first thing to try. If you are on a Terminal server a simple log out and back in for the user should fix the issue. If not get everyone out of the Terminal server and reboot it. Once CC finally goes to 64x Quantum clients this will not be an issue anymore as long as you are running 64x Office.
-
You need the updated RwEasyMAPI32.exe & RwEasyMAPI64.exe from CC dated 04/29/2016. You will need to unregister your current ones and rereg the new ones to fix this error. This needs to be done with the affected user logged in but with the an admin running the commands in Powershell or CMD window. If you need more info let me know. Thanks.

We wrote a program that users run to start Quantum. We removed the regular Quantum shortcut from users desktop and replaced it with our program. This program on start checks the number of quantum sessions open on that PC and we can limit the number of Quantum sessions users can have open. The program can also prevent users from starting Quantum if we are doing work on the database. This was the best way to solve this issue and works really well.

Stream and Read errors have always been network related for my users. Check the network cable, network card and port on the switch. Change out all of them and test it.
-
Yes, lets hope another smaller company will come out with an offline stand alone PDF reader\writer that you can buy outright and not have monthly payments. I am sure someone can make a ton of money with a software like this. I will check out your suggested one at $7 a license. Thanks.
-
Too funny Warren we are on XI too and holding on to it as long as we can. I think the 2020 version is the end of the road and it will be monthly payments per user forever after that. I calculated that it will cost us about 10K a year to switch to one of the generic PDF programs. Ridiculous!
-
You can still buy Adobe Acrobat 2020 and it is still supported until June of 2025. The cost is about $350 per user but it is a fully paid licenses, so no endless monthly subscription costs.

Why not Foxit? Are there issues with Foxit and Quantum? We need to make a change from Adobe soon. Thanks.
-
OK, sorry I can’t comment on those modules we are not an MRO or repair station but we have most of the other modules including the accounting module and have no issues. I would look at version 12.8.x. It is still only for test environments but some issues might be fixed in the latest version.
-
I believe we reported this and CC said it was by design that it work this way. Maybe you can convince them this is a bug and should not behave this way. Let us know if you get a bug tracker.
-
-
I think you have the same problem as we have. See my post above.
-
We have almost 40 statuses and the biggest problem for us is everyone needs access to all the statuses but users will go from say a R-PICK (repair order pick) to S-SHIP (sales order ship) and messes up the order’s status and can’t change it back. We had to write a program allow us to change the statuses when someone messes up. It would be nice if there was a way to limit user to just R statuses if that is the type of order they are working on.
-
That version of Quantum must be 10 years old. I am positive that won’t work with modern security requirements of Office365\Exchange. If you can’t upgrade Quantum I would set a transport rule to whitelist emails coming from your Quantum server so they don’t get quarantined.
-
Yes, random client disconnects is almost always network related, not an Oracle issue. Usually a bad port on the switch, bad cable or a bad network card or driver is the issue. I always switch all of that out when I have an issue as it is cheap and easy to do.
-
Great! Good to hear. I usually go with with the Windows drivers myself for workstations as they are signed and approved by Microsoft. On my servers I get all the drivers I can from the manufacturer’s site as they tend to be more current and have more features.
-
How is it going now, still working? So, was it a bad network card?
-
I would switch the network card especially if you have another one in the server as it is an easy, cheap fix if it works. Get a new network cable and try a different port on the switch while you are at it. If you are still having the issues I would run Quantum on the Oracle server itself and when this issue happens see if quantum and or your Oracle database is available locally on the server. This should eliminate all networking as the issue and you would have to dive deeper on the Oracle side to address the issue. Let me know what happens. Thanks.

Warren,
I get the following error running that on our portal with the proper domain name: Keystore file does not exist. I think the keystore file is messed up after the last attempted to by CC to fix this. I will wait for CC and see if they have a solution as it is the server’s SSL config is really messed up.
Jae

The new Portal uses Tomcat and it is all command line so it is not very friendly to use. The hostname is the public domain name and points to a public IP address. The SSL cert has the correct domain name and DNS resolution is working properly. The issue appears to be installing the correct intermediate, root and SSL cert. The files don’t match or don’t work with our Portal for some reason.
-
Yes, I have full shell access but even CC can’t figure it out the issue. We may need to wipe the entire portal server and start over. I have given up on it and I am waiting their response to wipe and start over.
-
Warren it is still unresolved. Over 2 months and I am still trying to get this fixed. Frustrating.
-
Thanks Warren. I contacted CC again to see if they can help with this. I wish we had the Windows version of the Portal. This would be much easier.
-
Thank you for the information Warren. We might have different Quantum Portals. Mine is a Linux box so it doesn’t run IIS and everything is command line. Simple things like changing host names, IP addresses or SSL certs is very difficult to do unless you are well versed in Linux.
-
Thanks Warren. Yes, I have looked at several tutorials on SSL certs installs but I need to assign a fully qualified domain name to the server like portal.ansett.com because you can’t get an SSL cert for an IP address any longer. Has any one done this?
-
That’s a good solution! The only issue I see is if you are always making changes to these companies you have to keep flagging and unflagging them. Also if they are historical this will affect any reports you try to run against those companies. If they are just employees (company) that you are making historical then it probably doesn’t matter much. I need more of a global solution to block the Company Financial Info tab from being shown to everyone except accounting.
